On The Road To St. Kitts

I was hoping to sleep in a little longer today, but as the bright sun woke me at 6:43 am, I was grateful not to be waking up to an alarm at 2:00 am! Our ship pulled into St. Kitts, the larger of the 2 Caribbean islands that make up the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Rather than take a cruise excursion, we decided to do a beach day on our own.  Sara did the research and chose Cockleshell Beach, about a half hour taxi ride to the southern tip of the island.

The beach was incredible!  A secluded stretch of powder-white sand, Cockleshell Beach sits directly on the Narrows - the channel between the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis - the Caribbean Sea to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east. At 85-degrees and mostly sunny, this was heaven for me and a sea shell extravaganza for Sara!

Before we got too toasty, we taxied back to the ship and took full advantage of the kitschy entertainment they had to offer! We cheered on the guys participating in the World's Sexiest Man contest by the pool! After dinner we sang "25 or 6 to 4" during 70's karaoke night (Sara was great, I was flat!) and we took FIRST place in the 70's disco version of name that tune, proudly wearing our disco-light rings!

Tomorrow, we'll be horseback riding on the beach in St. Johns, Antigua!
